Ralph DeLoach


Ralph Alan DeLoach is a former American football defensive end in the National Football League for the New York Jets. He was drafted by the Dallas Cowboys in the fourth round of the 1979 NFL Draft. He played college football at the University of California, Berkeley.

Early years

DeLoach attended Sacramento High School in Sacramento, California. He accepted a football scholarship from the University of California, Berkeley.
As a junior, he earned First Team All-Pacific-8 and All-West coast honors. As a senior, he led the team with 6 quarterback sacks and 12 tackles for losses.

Professional career

Dallas Cowboys

DeLoach was selected by the Dallas Cowboys in the fourth round of the 1979 NFL Draft, as they valued his athletic ability. He was waived on August 21.

New York Jets

On May 7, 1980, the New York Jets signed him as a free agent. On September 1, he was placed on the injured reserve list with a sprained ankle.
He was waived on August 31, 1981. On October 28, he was re-signed to provide depth on the defensive line. On November 14, he was cut to make room to activate running back Freeman McNeil.

Green Bay Packers

On April 16, 1982, he was signed as a free agent by the Green Bay Packers. He was released before the start of the season.

Personal life

After football he worked as a probation officer.
