Membrío
Membrío is a municipality located in the province of Cáceres, Extremadura, Spain. According to the 2006 census, the municipality has a population of 880 inhabitants.
Membrío is 66 km away from the town of Cáceres and within 30 km of the Portuguese frontier.
Membrío celebrates, on every August 15, a holiday dedicated to Saint Mary: Our Lady of Grace. During the holidays, Membrío duplicates and even triplicates its population, due to all Membrio emigrants and their families coming back for a few days. Other membrillero festivities worth the visit are the Carnival and Easter, when, following the southern Spanish tradition, the baroque church icons are taken into the streets.
