Maya Ali
Maryam Tanveer known by her stage name Maya Ali, is a Pakistani actress, model and VJ, mostly known for her roles in Pakistani television serials and film industry. She made her film debut with the 2018 action-drama film Teefa in Trouble opposite Ali Zafar, and followed it with a leading role in romantic-comedy film Parey Hut Love opposite Sheheryar Munawar, both of which were commercially successful and the former earned her nomination for Best Actress at Lux Style Awards.
Early Life and Education
Maya Ali was born as Maryam Tanveer Ali in Lahore, Pakistan, on 27 July 1989.Maya Ali completed her Masters in Mass Communication, from the Queen Mary College, Lahore.Ali then went on to be a VJ. Maya Ali is interested in sports and has played Basketball, Cricket, Hockey, Tennis and Badminton representing her school team.
Career
Maya Ali started her career as a video jockey at Samaa TV, Waqt News and Dunya News. Ali made her on-screen debut with drama serial Durr-e-Shahwar.She first appeared in drama Durr-e-Shahwar; and then starred in Aik Nayee Cinderella and Aunn Zara, both along with Osman Khalid Butt.In 2012, She started off well with a brief role in drama Durr-e-Shehwar telecasted on HUM TV. In this drama her name is Mahnoor. Her role is not very explanatory except that she is a younger sister of Durr-e-Shahwar and was born in a rich family and she always respects her elder sister. The drama was directed by Haissam Hussain and written by Umera Ahmed.
Aik Nayee Cinderella was her next show after Durr-e-Shehwar telecasted on Geo TV and she got the lead role in this drama opposite Osman Khalid Butt and Faizan Khawaja. Maya’s role in this serial was Meesha. The serial is a modern retelling story of Cinderella and people were resembling it to Disney world stories. The serial was directed by Haissam Hussain and written by Faiza Iftikhar.
After Aik nayee Cinderella in 2013, Maya got the project of Aunn Zara again under the direction of Haissam Hussain. The show is written by Faiza Iftikhar as well earlier titled Hisar e Muhabbat. Maya played the role of Zara opposite Osman as Aunn.
In 2013, Maya finally opted out from Haissam Hussain’s direction to catch up with Khoya Khoya Chand a series which is again written by Faiza Iftikhar. Maya played the role of Ahmerin who is a loving and caring sister with a sweet nature.
In 2013,she starred as Hiba in Ranjish Hi Sahi. The show contains a much diversified story from usually stories, another project by A&B production which was ON-AIRED on Geo TV. It is full of tragedies, sorrows, sufferings and pain. Each and every character is very difficult to be played. Maya is yet again in a sisterly role but a possessive sister. Again in 2013,she did her another serial named Meri Zindagi Hai Tu which was on-aired on Geo TV. this serial was directed by Amin Iqbal, produced by A&B Entertainment and written by Faiza Iftikhar. The drama stars Ahsan Khan, Maya Ali and Aiza Khan in lead roles. The seial was first aired 20 September 2013 on Geo Entertainment, being aired on prime slot on Friday at 8:00 pm. The serial also aired on Indian channel Zindagi under the same title.
Her next project was Ladoon Mein Palli. In this serial Maya Ali is playing a leading role which is based on the story of a young girl her family. She played the role of Laraib, a girl whose family is traditional and respect their customs. This serial was aired on drama channel GEO TV at 8 pm every Tuesday. The story is written by Adam Aazeen and directed by Waseem Abbas.
In 2014, Maya Ali was cast in Shanakht, in which she played the role of Qurat-ul-Ain, who follows Islam but is criticized by her family and society. Ali also starred as Saman in Zid alongside Ahsan Khan.

In 2015, Maya Ali worked in Mehreen Jabbar's Mera Naam Yousuf Hai. She played the role of Zulaikha alongside Imran Abbas. The same year she played the role of Farah alongside Osman Khalid Butt in Diyar-e-Dil, for which they won Hum Award for Best on-screen Couple by Jury.
In 2016, Maya Ali starred as Manahil in Mann Mayal along with Hamza Ali Abbasi, for which she won Lux Style Award for Best TV Actress.It was co-created and co-produced by the creative head Momina Duraid with Sana Shahnawaz, Samina Humayun Saeed and Tariq Shah. The show was first aired on Hum TV, as a part of night programming all under Duraid's production company. Mann Mayal has an ensemble cast with Hamza Ali Abbasi as Salahhudin, Maya Ali as Manahil in leading roles, with the supporting cast Aiman Khan as Beeya, Saba Hameed, Naeem Tahir, Shehryar Zaidi, Ismat Zaidi, Mehmood Aslam, Laila Zuberi and Talat Hussain The show is set in Hyderabad and Karachi, Sindh. It revolves around the journey of Harib, a successful businessman, as he discovers the difference between a life partner and a soulmate. The show first aired on Hum TV The show is set in Karachi, Sindh. Sanam premiered in Pakistan, UK, USA and UAE with same premier date and timings.Series received generally positive reviews in its premier, however throughout its broadcast it received mixed to negative reviews where viewers and critics declared it as a drag.
In January 2017, she signed Ahsan Rahim's debut romantic action-comedy film Teefa in Trouble as a co-star with Ali Zafar. It is the debut of both the actors too in Pakistan film industry, which released on 20 July 2018. Pre-production work began in 2016 when Zafar, Rahim and Danyal Zafar wrote the story and screenplay. Principal photography took place in Lahore and Warsaw between 18 February and 26 July 2017. Ali Zafar also created the music, while the film score has been composed by Shani Arshad. The film released on 20 July 2018; it was distributed by Mandviwalla Entertainment and Geo Films nationwide. It is the first non-Indian film which was distributed internationally by Yash Raj Films. At the time of its release, it was one of the most expensive Pakistani films ever made. It became the third Pakistani film to cross the ₨ 50 crore mark, despite facing protests and film piracy afterwards
On 19 April 2017, they both performed in the 16th Lux Style Awards on Zafar's song "Ishq", and it was the first time when she performed on the stage of Lux Style Awards. She was the Brand Ambassador of Quetta Gladiators in 2018 Pakistan Super League. Maya has gotten her own Shan e Pakistan jersey and was spotted wearing it as she was unveiled as the Quetta Gladiators’ brand ambassador.
Maya Ali walks the ramp of Bridal Week 2018 as showstopper for Nomi Ansari.Maya Ali always had a special preference for Nomi Ansari’s designs and has been a brand ambassador for him for a few years now. At PFDC L’Oreal Paris Bridal Week she was the show stopper for Nomi Ansari. She looks elegant in a Lehnga designed by famouus designer Nomi Ansari. Lehnga is adorned with embroidered multi colour flower and sprinkled stones.
At PFDC L’Oreal Paris Bridal Week 2019, Maya Ali simply stunned in MNR Design Studio, whose collection ChaharBagh brought a Punjabi touch to the runway. Mohsin Naveed Ranjha attempted to pay an ode to Islamic art and architecture through his work.

Maya Ali is brand ambassador of Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital and Research Centre. Maya Ali is visiting different institutions to raise awareness of breast cancer among young girls. She has visited many universities and colleges in three days campaign. Talking to the students, Maya Ali said that every year thousands of women in Pakistan die of Breast cancer, although this can be easily diagnosed at an early stage and its successful treatment is possible. She also stressed the need for raising awareness at grassroots. She hosted Eid show named MILAN on 7 February 2017She serves as an ambassador for a number of brands such as a lux,Qmobile,diva body spray, royal fan.
She also appeared on many TV shows like sunrise from istanbul, after moon show with Yasir ,tonite with HSY,rewind with sameena perzada ,one take.She had some interviews with her co-star sheheryar munawar like at BBC Asian network ,ap kay sitare with hadiqa kiyani, bol nights with ahsan khan ,voice over man , the munshi show.
