Make Yourself


Make Yourself is the third studio album by American rock band Incubus, released through Epic Records on October 26, 1999. It is certified double platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America and produced three charting singles—"Pardon Me", "Stellar", and "Drive"—all of which reached the top three of the Billboard Alternative Songs chart, with the latter topping the chart and also becoming the band's sole top ten hit to date on the Billboard Hot 100, where it peaked at number nine.

Composition

Style and genres

Make Yourself has been described as a nu metal, alternative metal, alternative rock and funk rock album, and marks a departure from the group's earlier roots.

Release

A tour edition for the album was also released, with a second disc containing three acoustic tracks and one live track. The album is the first to be recorded with new turntablist Chris Kilmore, who replaced DJ Lyfe.

In popular culture

The song "Stellar" is featured in the video game Guitar Hero. It also was included as a part of a 3-song pack via Xbox Live for the Xbox 360 version of Guitar Hero II on April 11, 2007. The song is also again featured in Guitar Hero Smash Hits. The song "Drive" was released as downloadable content for Guitar Hero World Tour, as being released as a part of the Acoustic Pack. The song "Privilege" is featured in the video game for the PlayStation.
The song "I Miss You" was featured in the music video game Rocksmith.
The songs "Pardon Me" and "Drive" were released as downloadable content for Rock Band 3.
The song "Drive" was included in the video games Donkey Konga 2 and Guitar Hero Live in addition to being featured in the film Surf's Up.

Reception

Make Yourself received generally positive reviews from critics. The album is listed on the 1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die.
