FÃ¥berg


FÃ¥berg is a village and former municipality in Innlandet county, Norway.
The parish of Faaberg was established as a municipality January 1, 1838. On January 1, 1964 FÃ¥berg was incorporated into the neighboring municipality Lillehammer. Prior to the merger FÃ¥berg had 13,381 inhabitants.
The Fåberg district contains the villages of Fåberg and Jørstadmoen. Combined, they form an urban area with a population of 1,342.

The name

The municipality was named after the old farm FÃ¥berg because the first church was built there. The meaning of the first element is unknown; the last element is berg 'mountain'.
Until 1921 the name was written "Faaberg".
