Do It Again (Pia Mia song)

"Do It Again" is a song recorded by American singer Pia Mia featuring Chris Brown and Tyga. It was released on May 4, 2015, by Interscope Records and written by Pia Mia, Jerry Afemata, George Veikoso, Marc Griffin, Tyga, and Nic Nac, the latter whom produced the track. Pia Mia first recorded the track in 2013, when she decided to remake J Boog's song "Let's Do It Again" after seeing one of his shows in Guam. During a studio session with Nic Nac two years later, Brown and Tyga heard the track and asked her if they could be included.
The pop-R&B and hip hop song peaked at number five on the ARIA Singles Chart in Australia, and number eight on the UK Singles Chart, while also charting at number 71 on the US Billboard Hot 100. It was eventually certified platinum in five countries. The music video was shot at a beach in Malibu, California by Colin Tilley, and released on June 26, 2015. "Do It Again" regained popularity on the social media platform TikTok as a viral dance challenge after Noah Schnapp uploaded a video dancing to the song in April 2020.

Background and development

saw her first concert when she was 16 years old, as J Boog performed in Guam. She immediately gravitated towards the song "Let's Do It Again", and was inspired to remake it with a pop spin as a tribute towards him. She recorded it later that year in 2013 with producer Nic Nac. Two years after "Do It Again" finished production, Mia was in a studio session with Chris Brown and Tyga, when Nic Nac played the track for them. Both artists loved it and asked her if they could appear on the song. She immediately accepted and included them, as she believed that they would amplify it over a million times, and was touched by their genuine interest in the track. In an interview with Vice, Mia described the lyrics of the song as "wanting to be more than just friends with someone you're really close with, but you haven’t crossed the line yet." She denied rumors that it was about a one-night stand, stating that she never had one before so she could not speak on it.
The pop-R&B, and hip hop track was one of the earliest songs recorded for her debut studio album, as she finished it before signing a deal with Interscope Records. Mia constantly fought the label for "Do It Again" to be released, which she believed that the song "was my heart". She eventually left Interscope without releasing a studio album, explaining that the songs released during her time there were chosen by the executives. The single was released on digital download and streaming formats on May 4, 2015, and distributed to rhythmic radio stations on May 19, 2015. It was written by Pia Mia, Jerry Afemata, George Veikoso, Marc Griffin, Tyga, and Nic Nac.
