Bernardino Verdún de Villayzán


Bernardino Verdún de Villayzán was a Spanish Catholic priest. He was Provisor and Vicar General of the bishopric of Buenos Aires, during the Viceroyalty of Peru.

Biography

Bernardino Verdún was born in Buenos Aires, son of Mateo Verdún de Villaysán, a Captain, born in Asunción. He had studied at Colegio Nacional de Monserrat and the National University of Córdoba, where he graduated in philosophy and theology.
He served in the Chapel of Luján from 1701 to 1707, when it happened to occupy the Curato of the Cathedral of Buenos Aires, for thirteen years.
On August 4, 1714, Bernardino Verdún de Villayzán, dean of the Cathedral Church, christening María Inés Casero Ramírez, grandmother of Manuel Belgrano.
