• January 1 – Following the 2018 enactment of the Music Modernization Act, and assuming no further extensions to the term of copyrights become law in the interim, all sound recordings fixed before 1923 will enter the public domain in the U.S.; alongside that, books, films and other works published in 1926 will enter the public domain as well.
• February 4–20 – The 2022 Winter Olympics will be held in Beijing, China, making Beijing the first city ever to host both the Summer Olympics and Winter Olympics.
• February 6 – If still living and reigning, Queen Elizabeth II will celebrate her Platinum Jubilee on this date, marking 70 years on the throne, a mark that no other British monarch before her has held.
• May 9 – The 2022 Philippine presidential election is scheduled to be held.
• July 6 – July 21 – After being postponed, the UEFA Women's Euro 2021 is scheduled to take place in England.
• July 27 – August 7 – The 2022 Commonwealth Games will be held in Birmingham, United Kingdom.
• November 8 – The 2022 U.S. elections will select the 118th Congress, the first after the redistricting reflecting the 2020 U.S. Census, and state and local officials.
• November 21 – December 18 – The 2022 FIFA World Cup is scheduled to be held in Qatar to avoid the summer heat between May and September and also avoid clashing with the 2022 Winter Olympics in February.
