Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk railway station


Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk railway station is railway station of Sakhalin Railway in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk, Sakhalin Oblast, Russia. It belongs to the Far Eastern Railway.

History

This station was opened in 1906 as Vladimirovka Station as part of the Korsakov - Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk line. In 1908, this station was renamed to Toyohara Station. In 1911, the Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk - Novoaleksandrovka line opened. In 1925, the Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk - Kurskaya-Sakhalinskaya line opened and the station became a hub. In 1946, this station was renamed to Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk Station.
The station consists of nine 1067 mm gauge tracks, and all tracks are non-electrified. The first track has a low landing platform with a train station built in the 1980s. The station and the Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk wagon depot are also located on the station territory. Near the station is located the management of the former Sakhalin Railway. A few kilometers from the station is the Children's Railway Sakhalin.
