Yuri Larin


Yuri Aleksandrovich Larin, born in Simferopol as Mikhail Aleksandrovich Lurie, was a Soviet economist and politician, one of the ideologists of Jewish autonomy in Crimea.
He was head of OZET, the Society for Settling Toiling Jews on the Land. His father, Shneur Zalman Lurie, was an engineer, Hebrew author and Zionist. His adopted daughter was Anna Larina. His godmother was Menshevik leader Lydia Dan.
In his name there existed a Jewish National Raion in Crimea in 1930s, Larindorf Raion.
