Yousuf Ijaz Butt is a footballer who plays for Danish 2nd Division club AB Tårnby and the Pakistan national football team. Yousuf Butt is the club captain and MVP last year. He is known as "The Wall" of South Asia. For the national team of Pakistan, Yousuf have established himself after pushing Pakistan legend Jaffar Khan to the bench back in 2012 and 2013. Butt has been awarded 'Man of the Match' performances. Yousuf has established himself as one of the best goalkeepers in South Asia, where his goalkeeping skills have earned him the nickname ‘The Wall’ from fans in south Asia. Yousuf also was awarded the Goalkeeper with the most saves under the 2018 SAFF Championship.
Club career
Butt has played over 200 division games in Denmark. He started his professional career at Hellerup IK in 2007 in the Danish 1 division, having previously played for the team's youth academy. He was initially the third choice at Hellerup, but worked his way to become the first-choice goalkeeper at age of 18. Afterwards, he joined 2 BK Skjold for the 2009–10 season 2 division season and played at the club and Skjold Birkerød the following season. Butt was then brought into 2 division side BK Glostrup Albertslund where he eventually became the number one and the club captain. In 2014, Butt signed with 1 division club Brønshøj Boldklub and later moved to Svebølle B&I the next season.
Although Butt had been previously called up for Canada under–20 team due to his family's residency in the country, he chose to represent Pakistan at various levels from the under-23s to the national team between 2011 and 2012. He made his debut for the national team in November 2012 against Singapore. Butt worked his way into becoming Pakistan number-one. He has played 18 games for Pakistan including the AFC Challenge Cup qualifiers of 2013, the 2013 SAFF Championship, as well as the 2013 Philippine Peace Cup. Butt became 2018 SAFF ChampionshipSAFF Cup Safe Hands, meaning that he was the one with the most saves.
Family
Butt is the younger brother of Yaqoob Butt, who has also represented Pakistan at the international level.
