William Petit


William A. Petit Jr. is an American physician and politician currently representing Plainville and New Britain in the Connecticut House of Representatives. A Republican, Petit was the sole survivor of the Cheshire home invasion, in which he lost his wife and two daughters. A physician before the home invasion, Petit devoted himself to philanthropy in the years after. After remarrying and having a son, William A. Petit III, he eventually went into politics, defeating incumbent Betty Boukas for a seat in the State House in 2016.
