William C. Wilson (physician)


William C. Wilson is the Chief Medical Officer at UCI Health. As the senior physician in the medical center, is responsible for providing effective leadership and expertise and fosters shared governance of all matters pertaining to medical staff affairs, clinical outcome, patient safety and satisfaction, and for strategic initiatives and programs for enhancing clinical effectiveness.
Previous, Dr. Wilson oversaw the hospital's medical direction as the Director of Critical Care Service at University of California Irvine Douglas Hospital. Dr. Wilson lead the Intensive care unit at UC Irvine Medical Center, including the hospital's Medical Intensive Care, Coronary Care, Surgical Intensive Care, Neuroscience Intensive Care and the Burn Unit.
From 1992-2013, Dr. Wilson served as Vice Chairman and Chief of Anesthesiology Critical Care Medicine at the UCSD Healthcare System, San Diego. Under his leadership, critical care services were added at the Thornton Hospital and Sulpizio Cardiovascular Center in La Jolla, and a new Neurocritical Care Service was launched at UC San Diego Health.
