Whiskey smash
The whiskey smash is a citrus smash with bourbon whiskey, muddled lemon wedges, simple syrup, and muddled mint leaves. In 1887, it appeared in Jerry Thomas' "Bar-Tenders Guide." The whiskey smash can also be made with gin, vodka, or rum.
The bourbon smash can also be made with maple syrup and fresh sage leaves in place of the simple syrup and mint respectively.
