Walter Freeman (footballer)


Walter D. Freeman was an English professional footballer who played as an inside forward. He scored 21 goals from 58 appearances in the Football League playing for Fulham and Birmingham.
With Fulham, he won the Southern League championship in 1906–07, which resulted in their election to the Second Division, and scored their first ever goal in the Football League, the only goal of the game at Derby County.
He was Birmingham's top scorer in the 1909–10 Football League season with 10 goals.
Freeman was born in Handsworth, Birmingham, and died in Birmingham. His brother, Bert, was an England international, and a prolific goalscorer for Woolwich Arsenal, Everton, Burnley and Wigan Borough.
