Vincent Scuro


Vincent Scuro is an American writer and filmmaker whose career has spanned six decades.
Scuro's first book, Presenting the Marching Band, was published by in 1974. He then wrote three science and nature books in the Dodd, Mead and Company Wonders series. He also co-authored eight books in the same series with Sigmund A. Lavine. These eleven books have been used as scientific references in school and university libraries in English-speaking countries since 1975. In 2002, one of his photographs from Wonders of Cattle was part of the Do It Yourself: Home Improvement in 20th Century America exhibit at the National Building Museum in Washington, D.C.
His first of five novels was published in 2001. Scuro also was a sportswriter for the Saint Peter's College newspaper from 1971-1973, a staff correspondent for the Twin-Boro News from 1974-1975, a columnist for the Southwest Orlando Bulletin from 1992-2010, and a contributing writer for Satellite Orbit magazine and the Los Angeles Times from 1989-1992.
More recently, he has been involved in feature film production. He was Executive Producer for Woman in Motion, a documentary film that chronicles the efforts of Nichelle Nichols to recruit minorities and women for the US Space Shuttle program in 1977. He also is credited as Project Archivist/Asset Manager and Property Master.

Early life

Scuro was born to an Italian-American family in Jersey City, New Jersey. He grew up in Bergenfield, New Jersey, graduated from Bergenfield High School and later lived in Hillsdale, New Jersey and Orlando, Florida.
His post-high school academic work included degrees from Saint Peter's College, where he also played varsity baseball and performed with the concert band, and Fairleigh Dickinson University, where he received a master's degree.
