Verzasca, Switzerland


Verzasca is a proposed municipality in the district of Locarno in the canton of Ticino in Switzerland.
The new municipality will be created on by the merger of Corippo, Vogorno, the village of Lavertezzo Valle which constitutes the major part of Lavertezzo, Brione, Gerra Valle of the municipality of Cugnasco-Gerra, Frasco and Sonogno. The case of the Lavertezzo Piano exclave was not yet settled in December 2019, but was dropped from the final proposed municipality in March 2020.

History

Following a vote organized on 10 June 2018 in seven municipalities of the Valle Verzasca, the municipality was to be officially created on 5 April 2020 by the merger of seven municipalities of the Valle Verzasca, namely Brione, Corippo, Frasco, Lavertezzo Valle, Sonogno, Vogorno and Gerra Valle. The creation of the municipality has been delayed to 5 April 2021.
