Valašské Meziříčí


Valašské Meziříčí, colloquially Valmez, is a town in the Zlín Region, the Czech Republic. The town has around 22,000 inhabitants.
The Vsetínská Bečva and Rožnovská Bečva rivers join in the town to form the Bečva River.

History

The first mention of Valašské Meziříčí dates from the 13th century.
The name comes from "mezi-říčí" ; the centre is in the wedge of the confluencing Rožnovská Bečva and Vsetínská Bečva rivers. The adjective specifies that this town is located in Moravian Wallachia.
