Utah State Route 131

State Route 131 is a state highway in the U.S. state of Utah, routed entirely on Porter Rockwell Boulevard. It is currently a spur southwest from 14600 South, but it will extend west to Redwood Road once an extension is complete.

Route description

Built section

Currently, the west end of the route is at the intersection of Porter Rockwell Boulevard and Harmon Day Drive. From this location, SR-131 proceeds northeast on Porter Rockwell Boulevard as a two-lane road with a center turn lane. It passes through newer developments in Bluffdale, as well as Summit Academy High School. The route straightens out to the north and comes to an intersection with SR-140 near the Utah State Prison, where SR-131 ends.

Planned section

The route is planned to begin at the intersection of Redwood Road and Porter Rockwell Boulevard, proceeding northeast on the latter. A new bridge will be built for the route, which will cross the Jordan River and the tracks for the Union Pacific Railroad and FrontRunner commuter rail. From there, the route will proceed northeast to the current western terminus.

History

The route was created by an action of the Utah Transportation Commission on September 16, 2016, which officially designated SR-131 along Porter Rockwell Boulevard from SR-68 to SR-140. In exchange, the section of SR-140 west of 800 West was cancelled. However, the portion of the route west of Harmon Day Drive remains unbuilt.
