University of Angers


The University of Angers is an institution of higher education in the town of Angers in western France.

History

It began as the School of Angers in the 11th century and became a university in 1337.
In 1432, the Faculties of Medicine, Arts, and Theology were added to the Faculty of Law.
The university was closed in 1793 during the French Revolution, and in 1971 a successor was established with little ties to the past institutions.
