Unison Online Service

The Unison Online Service was an online service provider active internationally between 1985 and 1995. Unison, as it was called, was the online home to nearly 2,500 members throughout the United States and Canada with a few additional members living in Japan. The system was based in the basement of its creator, Fred Dudden, in Denver, Colorado, who sold it to Dean Goranson circa 1987. The system had grown out of a local medical network in the state of Colorado used for libraries to transact interlibrary loan emails. This earlier system was operated for nearly four years on a Northstar personal computer.
