Tornike Rizhvadze


Tornike Rijvadze is a Georgian business executive and politician. On 21 July 2018, he was elected as Chairman of the Government of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara.
Born in the town of Khulo, Rijvadze graduated from the Tbilisi State University with a degree in law in 2011. He holds MIB from Batumi State University, LL.M from the University of London, and PhD from the Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv. He worked for various private companies, as well as the Government of Ajara before taking the position the Deputy Minister of Energy of Georgia in July 2017. On December 26, 2017, he became CEO of the state-owned Georgian Energy Development Fund. After the Chairman of the Government of Adjara, Zurab Pataradze, stepped down on 21 July 2018, Rizhvadze was nominated by the ruling Georgian Dream-Democratic Georgia party as his successor. His nomination was approved by Adjara's 21-member legislature on 21 July 2018.
