Thuravoor Viswambharan
Thuravoor Viswambharan, was a popular Sanskrit scholar, active social worker and writer from the Thuravoor village in the southern state Kerala in India. He was an expert professor on Hindu epics Ramayana, Mahabharatha and Vedas. He was a professor in Malayalam, Sanskrit, Indian Mythology and Vedic Science at the prestigious Maharaja's College Ernakulam, Cochin. He was the state president of Tapasya Kala Sahithya Vedi and the founder president of Vishwa Samvad Kendra Kerala. He used to deliver lectures on different Hindu epic, vedic and science topics in Amrita TV in a programme called 'Bharatha Dharsanam', and the discourse and discussion was from 07.30 to 08.00 AM.
Viswambharan contested the NDA candidate from Thripunithra Legislative Assembly during the 2016 Kerala legislative elections, but failed. He came only in the third position.
He was awarded with Balagokulams' Janmashtami Puraskar by Murali Manohar Joshi in Kochi a month before his death, was the last one received among many honors. He died on 20 October 2017 at Sudheendra Mission Hospital in Kochi, after suffering from cancer. He is survived by his wife and two daughters.
