Thomas George Love


Thomas George Love was a British Agent and bookkeeper. He was founder of The British Packet, and Argentine News, and its editor from 1826 to 1845.

Biography

He was born in London, England, and arrived at the port of Buenos Aires in 1820 from Cape of Good Hope. In 1825, he wrote "A five years' residence in Buenos Ayres: during the years 1820 to 1825", a classic book where he tells his experiences in the city.
In 1826 Thomas George Love founded the newspaper British Packet, edited for the British, Irish and American population of Buenos Aires. He died in 1845, being buried on November 30, in the Dissident Cemetery of Victoria Street. After his death took over the newspaper Gilbert Ramsay.
