Thomas Deenihan


Thomas Deenihan KC*HS, in Cork, Ireland is the Bishop in the Catholic Church of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Meath.

Early life and education

Educated at North Monastery Christian Brothers School in Cork, he studied for the priesthood at St. Patrick’s College, Maynooth. He was ordained priest in 1991.
As part of the Christian Leadership in Education programmes in Cork, he gained a master's degree in education in 1999 from the University of Hull, and subsequently gained a Doctorate in Education.
Deenihan taught for a number of years in St. Goban's College Bantry, and served on the board of the Cork Education and Training Board and a member of the Catholics Schools Partnership.

Episcopal ministry

appointed him Bishop of Meath on 18 June 2018.
Deenihan was consecrated as Bishop on 2 September 2018, at the Cathedral of Christ the King, Mullingar by Archbishop Eamon Martin, Archbishop of Armagh.
