Thengal-Kachari
The Thengal-Kachari tribe is an indigenous ethnic group of Assam, India and reside at different districts: Jorhat, Golaghat, North Lakhimpur, Nagaon, Karbianglong. They were a part of the Kachari kingdom in the medieval era before the rise of the Ahom kingdom in Assam. Thengal Kachans who were formerly silver -washers. Indigenous knowledge and practices of Thengal Kachari women in the sustainable management of bari system of farming. They are mainly found in Jorhat district Lakhimpur District of Assam and other parts of Assam. Their festival is called "Tora Chira".
