The Uptown Residences

The Uptown Residences is a condominium tower built by developer Pemberton Group in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
Located at 35 Balmuto Street south of Bloor Street, the 48 floor tower is 158 metres tall and has 284 units. It stands on the site of the former Uptown Theatre and was designed by Burka Varacalli Architects Incorporated. While its setbacks evoke Art Deco skyscraper architecture of the 1930s, its facade of precast concrete cladding and rectangular windows is mostly unadorned. It appears starkly simple, without contrasting elements. The only exception is the podium along Balmuto Street, which has black and grey granite cladding in an arrangement inspired by Art Deco architecture, but without artistic motifs or other ornamental elements. Its crown is a conventional box form without a spire.
The amenities include a 24 hr. concierge, state of the art gym, Pilates and yoga area, steam rooms in the men's and women's change rooms, multimedia theatre, virtual golf, billiards room and the Metropolitan Room, a large party room with kitchen facilities and outdoor terrace.
