The Queen's Gambit (miniseries)


The Queen's Gambit is an upcoming American drama web television miniseries developed by Scott Frank and Allan Scott. The series is based on the 1983 novel of the same name by Walter Tevis.

Premise

The Queen's Gambit centers the "life of an orphan chess prodigy" named Beth Harmon "from the age of 8 to 22 as she struggles with addiction in her quest" to become a Grandmaster in chess.

Cast and characters

Development

On March 19, 2019, Netflix had given the production a series order consisting of six episodes. The series is to be directed by Scott Frank, who also wrote with Allan Scott. The two are also expected to executive produce alongside William Horberg.

Casting

Alongside the series order announcement, it was announced that Anya Taylor-Joy would star as Beth Harmon. In January 2020, it was announced Moses Ingram had joined the cast of the series.

Filming

began in August 2019 in Cambridge, Ontario. Filming also took place in Berlin.
