Teo Ho Pin


Dr Teo Ho Pin is a former Singaporean politician. A member of the country's governing People's Action Party, Teo was the Member of Parliament for Bukit Panjang SMC from May 2006 to June 2020, for Holland–Bukit Panjang GRC for Bukit Panjang from October 2001 to May 2006 as well as for Sembawang GRC for Bukit Panjang from December 1996 to October 2001. He is also the Mayor of the North West Community Development Council.

Education and early career

Teo was educated in New Town Secondary School and National Junior College. He completed a Bachelor of Science with honours in building at the National University of Singapore in 1985. He later received a Master of Science in project managing and a Doctor of Philosophy in building from Heriot-Watt University in 1987 and 1990 respectively.
Teo was a Senior Lecturer in NUS from 1985 to 1999. He was also President of the Singapore Institute of Building and Consumers' Association of Singapore.

Political career

Teo's political career began in 1996 when he was elected a member of parliament for the Sembawang Group Representation Constituency. He subsequently served as an MP for Holland–Bukit Panjang GRC from 2001 to 2006, and for Bukit Panjang Single Member Constituency from 2006 to 2011. In the 2011 general elections, Teo was voted into office again as an MP for Bukit Panjang SMC. He is also Mayor of the North-West District and Deputy Government Whip. In 2020, Teo would be retiring, and not stand for the 2020 Singaporean general election.
