Technical Specifications for Interoperability


The Technical Specification for Interoperability are specifications drafted by the European Railway Agency and adopted in a Decision by the European Commission, to ensure the interoperability of the trans-European rail system. The interoperability issues apply to the lines within the Trans-European Rail network. The European Railway Agency regularly publishes a summary of the status of the TSIs.

Scope

and have been in force since 1 December 2002.

Persons with reduced mobility

The Persons with reduced mobility - technical specifications for interoperability relates to accessibility of the European Union's rail system for persons with disabilities and persons with reduced mobility. It was published on 18 November 2014 under reference 1300/2014/EU. The PRM-TSI applies only to heavy rail systems.
Light rail systems are covered by different legislation. In the United Kingdom this is the Rail Vehicle Accessibility Regulations 2010.
