Tartu Veterinary Institute


Tartu Veterinary Institute was an institute which gave higher education in veterinary. It was located in Tartu, Estonia. The institute was established in 1848 and therefore it was the oldest veterinary school in Imperial Russia.
Insitute's first director was Peter Boje Jessen.
Studying in the institute was divided into two level. Higher level allowed to become veterinary doctor. Lower level allowed to become veterinary doctor's assistant. In 1852, lower level was stopped.
In 1918 the institute was integrated to Tartu University.
