Tangerang–Merak Toll Road

The Tangerang–Merak Toll Road, also known as the Banten highway, is part of the Trans-Java toll road. It is the second toll road constructed in Indonesia, following the Jagorawi Toll Road in 1981. This highway connects Tangerang and the port of Merak on the north-western tip of Java, which further connects by ferry to Sumatra island. The road passes through Cikupa, Balaraja, Kragilan, Ciujung, Serang, Cilegon, and Merak.
Further investment is underway. In mid-2012, the toll road operator, PT Marga Mandala Sakti, recently acquired by Astra International Tbk, said that construction of all parts of the road to connect with the port of Merak was almost complete.
