TKO-HQ


TKO are a rock band from Dublin/Galway, Ireland. The TKO sound is best described as rock music with a hint of jazz, folk, classical, infusing drums, bass and guitars with saxophone, acoustics, violin, clarinet, harmonica and lap steel. It combines the band's influences of rock, bluegrass and classical with the members' current inspirations.

About TKO

TKO were founded in 2006 by a group of friends based in Dublin, Ireland. Since then, they have played over two hundred shows. They have received widespread acclaim for their live shows, which are described as eclectic and entertaining. The band's collection of interests and influences is integral to their stage presence and live atmosphere, claiming popular culture references from Bruce Springsteen to Chewbacca. They have just released their new "Keystone EP" in March 2011 and toured the country playing venues such as Whelans, Roisin Dubh, Dolans and the Spirit Store. Upcoming shows include Vantastival and West Fest
TKO are currently recording their debut studio album, due for release in September 2011.

History

TKO's first release, the Hats Off EP has to date sold over a thousand copies. Their 2007 single, Let's Go, went top 40 in Ireland. The supporting tour visited venues around Ireland and the band made numerous radio appearances for publicity.
The band has extensive touring experience, having supported influential Irish band The Frames in Vicar Street, and have also supported Duke Special, Mundy, Martha Wainwright, The Wailers, Damien Dempsey, The Undertones, Mercury Rev and many other established acts.
The band came to public attention in 2007 with over 80 shows played, a live album Act One, Scene One released and the aptly titled thirteen-date 'Tour For The Sake Of Touring' tour successfully undertaken. They received much positive media attention from many publications including Metro, Northside People, The Star, The Irish Times and Hotpress.
A TV appearance on Dublin's City Channel and a very well viewed performance on webby award nominee website were also recorded during this time. In 2011, they released their new "Keystone EP" to much anticipation. They appeared on national television in Ireland on the POP 4 show on TG4, playing two tracks and an interview. They also had write ups in The Star, Hotpress, Daily Mirror and many other publications.
Hot Press have said that TKO are "One of the best live bands in the country"

As of 2011, the band consists of Mic Geraghty, Graham Geraghty, Si McArdle, Eoghan Russell, Stephen Lynch, and Mikey Madden.
