Suchdol nad Odrou

Suchdol nad Odrou is a market town in Moravian-Silesian Region, Czech Republic. Many of the first religious refugees that came to the estate of Count von Zinzendorf to begin the building of Herrnhut originated from Suchdol/Zauchtenthal. These refugees were instrumental in renewing the Unitas Fratrum of their ancestors, today called the Moravian Church, the Jednota Bratrská, or Herrnhuter Brüdergemeine.

History

Until 1918, the town was part of the Austrian monarchy, in the Neutitschein district, one of the 34 Bezirkshauptmannschaften in Moravia.
