History

The first class to graduate from the school was in 1889.

Campus

Stratford High School is located in center Stratford, behind the town hall and a Volkswagen dealership. It has two parking lots, one for students and one for teachers. Behind the school, there is a small field with a practice baseball field, a weight house, and a miscellaneous practice field. Due to the time period Stratford was designed, and the location of Stratford High School, the rest of the "campus" is down the street, nearby the Paradise Green neighborhood and next to Longbrook Park. Over there is Pender's Field, featuring the school's football field and baseball park. All of this is located about a mile away from the school.

Student groups and activities at Stratford High School include art students league, string ensemble, choir, concert band, drama society, Earth club, French club, Gay-straight alliance, Health Occupations Students of America, jazz band, Link Crew, literary magazine, marching band, Model United Nations, National Honor Society, peer advocates, peer mediators, Red Devils Inn, Robotics Club, ski and snowboard club, Spanish club, Latin club, student council, volunteer club, and yearbook.
The school's athletic teams, known as the Red Devils, compete in CAS-CIAC size classification M, South West Conference, Patriot Division. Teams are fielded in baseball, basketball, bowling, cheerleading, cross country, dance team, drill team, football, golf, soccer, softball, lacrosse, swimming and diving, tennis, track and field, volleyball, and wrestling.
