Stewart Turner
Stewart Turner FAA FRS is an Australian geophysicist. He was educated at North Sydney Boys High School and Sydney University. He was awarded the 1851 Exhibition Scholarship to Cambridge.
Since his retirement in 1996 has been Emeritus Professor and Visiting Fellow at the Australian National University. He is an elected Fellow of the Australian Academy of Science and the Royal Society, and was awarded the Australian Academy of Science's Matthew Flinders Medal and Lecture in 1990. Turner was Foundation Professor of Geophysical Fluid Dynamics, Research School of Earth Sciences, Australian National University 1975–1995.
He should not be confused with John Stewart Turner OBE FAA, the Australian botanist and plant physiologist.
