State Penitentiary (film)


State Penitentiary is a 1950 drama film directed by Lew Landers and starring Warner Baxter and Onslow Stevens. The prison scenes in this film were photographed in the state penitentiary at Carson City, Nevada.
One year after completing his final film, State Penitentiary, Warner Baxter died as a result of cranial surgery, which was intended to relieve his long struggle with arthritis on May 7, 1951.

Plot summary

Roger Manners, a former aircraft manufacturer is wrongly accused and convicted of embezzlement of $400,000 and is given a long prison sentence. His wife, Shirley, tries to prove his innocence. Manners escapes, hoping to track down the real culprit, his ex-partner Stanley Brown.
