Springleaf MRT station


Springleaf MRT station is a future underground Mass Rapid Transit station on the Thomson-East Coast Line in Yishun planning area, Singapore. It will be located next to the row of 2-storey shophouses along Upper Thomson Road. When completed, this station will serve the nearby housing estate of Springside and Nee Soon Army Camp. The tracks between this station and Woodlands South station are the longest on the Thomson-East Coast Line.
It is also the nearest MRT station towards the Singapore Zoo, Night Safari and River Safari.

History

This station was first announced on 29 August 2012.
On 15 August 2014, LTA announced that Springleaf station would be part of the proposed Thomson East-Coast line. The station will be constructed as part of Phase 2, consisting of 6 stations between Springleaf and Caldecott, and is expected to be completed in 2020.
The Contract T208 for the design and construction of Springleaf Station and associated tunnels was awarded to Leighton Contractors Limited – John Holland Pty Ltd Joint Venture at a sum of S$383 million on November 2013. Construction will start in 2014, with completion in 2020.
The Contract T207 for the construction of bored tunnels between Springleaf and Mandai Depot crossover tunnel was awarded to Shimizu Corporation at a sum of S$189.8 million on January 2014. Construction will start in 2014, with completion in 2020. The contract includes completion of twin bored tunnels between Springleaf Station and crossover tunnels to Mandai Depot.
