The Springfield Police Department is the law enforcement agency responsible for the city of Springfield, Illinois. The Springfield Police Department has 3 divisions: Field Operations, Investigations, and Administrative Services.

Misconduct

Officer Samuel Rosario was arrested by the Illinois State Police on February 28, 2017 for official misconduct and battery after fighting with a teenager. He was found guilty of Official Misconducy in August of 2019.

Fallen officers

Since the establishment of the Springfield Police Department, 10 officers have died in the line of duty.

Equipment

The Springfield Police Department uses Ford Crown Victoria's which are being phased out to Ford Explorers, and one Chevy Impala for regular patrol. Springfield Police Department also has multiple pickup trucks, Ford Transits, and one Lenco Bearcat.
