Reception

In Japan, Game Machine listed Sports Jam on their February 15, 2001 issue as being the third most-successful arcade game of the year.
Rob Smolka reviewed the Dreamcast version of the game for Next Generation, rating it three stars out of five, and stated that "Essentially a group of sports-based Java applets, there's enough charm and challenge to keep you coming back to improve your score."
