Splish Splash


Splish Splash is a water park in Calverton, New York. It features 30 rides and runs from May through September. Travel Channel ranked Splish Splash the third best water park in the United States in the year 2009, but does not hold the title anymore.

History

Splish Splash was built in 1989, headed by Chip Cleary with the original owners being the same as Adventureland. It opened in May 1991 with three body slides, two speed slides, two kiddie pools, two tube slides, a lazy river, and a restaurant. In 1995, the Lazy River opened. The park has been owned and operated by Palace Entertainment since 2001. Today the lazy river is long and is accompanied by 18 water slides, 2 wave pools, several kiddie attractions, and a spray and play pirate theme attraction. It spans over. In 2006, Splish Splash added a new funnel-shaped ride called Alien Invasion. In July 2008, they announced that they would be adding 7 rides over the next few years, including Dr. Von Dark's Tunnel of Terror for 2009, Kahuna Bay for 2011, Bootlegger's Run for 2013, The Battle of Mutiny Bay for 2014, and two new rides introduced in 2018, Riptide Racer and Bombs Away.

  7. Dr. Von Dark's Tunnel of Terror - Opened 2009, a ProSlide tantrum with high-speed 360 degree spins, and a drop
  8. Kahuna Bay - Opened 2011, a classic wave pool
  9. Cliff Diver - Opened 1996, a plummet body slide dropping riders 8 stories in 3 seconds
  10. Dragon's Den - Opened 2004, a ProSlide cannon bowl with a dragon in the middle of the bowl
  11. Mammoth River - Opened 1991, an open mammoth family raft ride
  12. Barrier Reef - Opened 1993, 2 enclosed high speed body slides
  13. Giant Twister - Opened 1991, 3 open body slides
  14. Shotgun Falls - Opened 1994, a free-fall drop slide into a deep pool
  15. Surf City - Opened 1995, a classic wave pool
  16. Soak City - a relaxing pool with in-water seats and water fountains
  17. Bootlegger's Run - Opened 2013, a water coaster featuring new generation hydromagnetic technology '
  18. The Battle of Mutiny Bay - Opened 2014, Seated in brightly colored boats, riders use water-spray “cannons” to blast other boats as well as spectators roaming the perimeter.
  19. Riptide Racer - Opened 2018, A ride that has 4 solid color tubes that requires a blue mat to ride. It is the only face first slide in the park and is one of a kind
  20. Bombs Away - Opened 2018, Bombs Away starts with the rider going into a capsule with a trapdoor below them. There is a countdown to when you will be launched out of the capsule and shot down the slide at high speeds at 26 feet per second. There is a Blue slide and a Green one

  21. The Elephant - an elephant slide with a falling spray of water, but as of the 2015 season, or 25th year of fun, the elephant was replaced by a Yellow Submarine
  22. Kiddie Slides - 3 open body slides featuring the only water slide in the park adults can ride with their children
  23. Monsoon Lagoon - a shipwreck pool with a slide and many pirate themed objects that shoot water
  24. Octopus Pool - a large octopus in the middle of a pool with swings on the tentacles
  25. Pirates Cove - a pirate ship pool with slides and pirate themed objects that shoot water
