Slovenia men's national volleyball team


The Slovenia national men's volleyball team is the national volleyball team from Slovenia, controlled by the Volleyball Federation of Slovenia, which represents the country in international competitions and friendly matches. Slovenia was the runner-up at the European Volleyball Championship twice, in 2015 and 2019. As of February 2020, Slovenia is ranked 12th in the FIVB World Rankings.

History

2015–2019: European Championship finals

In March 2015, Andrea Giani was announced as the new head coach of Slovenian national team. In October 2015, Slovenia won their first medal at the European Volleyball Championships after they lost in the final against France. Tine Urnaut won one of the individual player awards for the Best Outside Spiker.
On 26 January 2017, Giani resigned as a head coach of the team and on 2 March 2017, Slobodan Kovač became the new head coach. On 28 May 2017, Slovenia qualified for the 2018 edition of the FIVB Volleyball Men's World Championship for the first time. At the 2019 European Volleyball Championship, Slovenia was one of the four co-hosts of the tournament. The team reached the final again, where they lost 3–1 to Serbia, clinching their second silver medal in four years.
