Sir William Davie, 4th Baronet


Sir William Davie, 4th Baronet of Creedy in the parish of Sandford, near Crediton in Devon, inherited the Davie baronetcy and the Davie estates from his elder brother Sir John Davie, 3rd Baronet, MP for Saltash 1679–85 and Sheriff of Devon in 1688, who died unmarried at the age of 32.

Origins

He was the younger son of William Davie of Dar., barrister-at-law by his wife Margaret Clarke, daughter of Sir Francis Clarke , a merchant of the City of London and member of the Levant Company.

He married twice, but left no male children, as follows:
He died leaving no sons and was buried on 24 March 1707 at Sandford. His heir to the baronetcy and to the Davie estates was his first cousin Sir John Davie, 5th Baronet, son of Humphry Davie, a merchant in the City of London, by his wife Mary White.
