Sir Charles Erskine, 1st Baronet, of Alva
Sir Charles Erskine, 1st Baronet, of Alva, Fife, was a Scottish politician who sat in the Scottish Conventions in 1665 and 1667 and in the Parliament of Scotland from 1689 to 1690.
Erskine was the third, but eldest surviving son of Hon. Sir Charles Erskine of Alva and Cambus Kenneth, and his wife Mary Hope, daughter of Sir Thomas Hope, 1st Baronet of Craighall. He succeeded his father on 8 July 1663 and was created baronet on 30 April 1666.
Erskine was returned as Shire Commissioner for Clackmannanshire to the Conventions in 1665 and in 1667. In 1689 he was elected MP for Stirlingshire in the Scottish Parliament.
He was returned as Shire Commissioner for Stirlingshire in 1689.
Erskine died on 4 June 1690 aged 46.Family
In about 1670 he married Christian Dunbar, daughter of Sir James Dunbar of Arniston.,
They had three sons.
His great grandchildren included James Erskine, Lord Alva.
