Sioen Industries


Sioen Industries is a Belgian textile manufacturer and a diversified stock quoted Group with an extensive portfolio of products and activities: spinning, weaving, and coating of technical textiles, manufacturer of professional protective clothing and producer of fine chemicals. The company head office is located in Ardooie.

History

In 1907 Sioen-Sabbe was founded by Adolf Sioen in Rumbeke, and later succeeded by his son Daniel Sioen. In 1960 Jean-Jacques Sioen found a company for producing technical textiles in Beveren. His wife, Jacqueline, started an apparel workshop in 1967 in Roeselare for manufacturing heavy-duty clothing for industrial use.
In 1977 the company moved to a new site in Ardooie, after it outgrew its buildings in Beveren and Roeselare. In the 1980s the company expanded into other countries such as France, Ireland and Tunisia. In 1991 the production plant in Ardooie was destroyed by fire, being rebuilt two years later in 1993.
In 1996 the company was registered on the Brussels Stock Exchange reaching a turnover of 85 million and employing 1500 people. By 2006 the company turnover had reached 339.4 million Euro and employing 4687 people in 38 subsidiaries in 14 different countries. By 2017 the turnover had reached to 363.4 million Euro with a net profit of 26 million Euro. In May 2017 Sioen Industries announced it had acquired the UK based James Dewhurst Group for 44 million pounds.

Divisions

The core activities are divided into 3 divisions: the coating division, the apparel division and the chemicals division.
1. : Sioen is a world market leader in the integrated coating of synthetic fabrics.
2. : Sioen produces technical apparel for many different markets where people work in circumstances where safety, comfort and protection are major issues.
3. : Sioen Chemicals is a fast, flexible, service oriented supplier of tailor-made products, such as pigment pastes, varnishes and inks.
