Sincik

Sincik, is a remote district of Adıyaman Province of Turkey with a population of 4,262. The mayor is Mehmet Korkut.
Sincik is a poor rural community beyond the town of Kahta. It is reached by a single-track province road across the Roman built Severan Bridge crossing the Cendere Creek, over high passes and between rocky outcrops. There are views of Mount Nemrut from the road.
This is the lowest-income district of Adıyaman and one of the lowest in Turkey. The village was established as a district capital as the journey to the nearest town, Kahta, was too arduous, especially in winter when the road is often closed and the town cut off. Now, there is a post-office and other public amenities year-round in Sincik.
