On 17 January 2018, four days after his 52nd birthday, at 7:30 A.M. Simon was found frozen to death at the Port of Liverpool Waterfront Building in a well between the building and street. He had a high concentration of alcohol in his system. Shelton had a history of alcohol dependency.
