History
The station opened on 29 September 1915 as Ikeda-Matsukawa Station on the Shinano Railway. The Shinano Railway was integrated into the Japanese Government Railways on 1 June 1937 and the station was renamed to its present name the same day. With the privatization of Japanese National Railways on 1 April 1987 the station came under the control of JR East.Passenger statistics
