Shane McLoughlin


Shane Daniel McLoughlin is an Irish professional footballer who plays as a midfielder and forward for AFC Wimbledon. McLoughlin was born in New York City, where his family lived in the Bronx, but moved to Kerry, Ireland, when he was five.

Club career

Ipswich Town

McLoughlin joined Ipswich Town from St Brendan's Park in July 2013, signing a two-year scholarship with the side. In April 2015, he was offered to remain at Town, given a third scholarship for the 2015–16 season, before he signed a one-year pro deal in July 2016 with a further 12-month stay at Portman Road. He made his Ipswich Town debut in the League Cup away at Crystal Palace on 22 August 2017. He started the game and came off for Monty Patterson in the 81st minute in a game Ipswich lost 2–1.

Bromley (loans)

He then joined National League side Bromley on a loan for the rest of the 2016–17 season in March 2017, making 7 appearances for them during that spell.

AFC Wimbledon

McLoughlin joined AFC Wimbledon on 31 January 2019. He made his debut for the club on 12 February in a 1–0 win away at Walsall.

International career

McLoughlin has won caps for Republic of Ireland at U16 and U18 levels.
