Senthamizh Paattu


Senthamizh Paattu is a 1992 Indian Tamil language film, written and directed by P. Vasu. The film features Prabhu and Sukanya in the lead roles, while Salim Ghouse plays a supporting role. The film, which has music composed by M. S. Viswanathan and Ilaiyaraaja was a Deepavali release of 1992. The film was remade in Telugu as Amma Koduku, with Rajasekhar, and in Kannada as Rasika starring V. Ravichandran under the direction of Dwarakish in 1994.

Cast

The success of P. Vasu's family drama En Thangachi Padichava starring Prabhu prompted further collaborations in the same genre between the pair with Chinna Thambi and Senthamizh Pattu being released soon after.

Release and reception

Senthamizh Paattu was released on 25 October 1992 on the eve of Diwali, Despite facing competition from other Diwali releases such as Pandiyan and Thevar Magan, the film was average hit at box-office. The Indian Express called it "rather a crude imitation" of Vasu's earlier film Chinna Thambi.
